Less Padding, More Comfort
For many women, the idea of a thin, triathlon-style chamois sounds impossible. In reality, thinner pads often mean fewer problems. A lot of riders are on a saddle that’s only “okay,” and the quick fix becomes thicker shorts, especially when talking about crotch comfort can feel awkward at a shop. We’re changing that. Why Bulky Chamois Cause Problems
- Bunch into relief channels or sensitive areas, putting pressure where you want relief.
- Fold along the sides/creases where the leg meets the crotch, driving chafing and saddle sores.
- Trap sweat and reduce airflow, creating hot spots and encouraging bacteria.
Thinner tri chamois improve airflow, don’t hold sweat, and don’t wad up where you don’t want them.
Not All “Thin” Shorts Are Equal
Many brands use simple 4-panel shorts because they’re cheaper to make, leaving seams down the middle of sensitive areas and along the inner thighs. JCOB shorts are different:
- 10-panel construction with 4-needle stitching for a smooth, supportive fit.
- Panel alignment pulls fabric away from the crotch, so material doesn’t bunch in the upper-thigh crease.
- No center seam through the chamois area, no unwanted rubbing where it matters most.
- A thin, felt-like pad that prevents sticking and stays comfortable all ride long.
